Mission Statements

As an interdisciplinary graduate program, the M.Ed. in Languages has three mission statements:

School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs:

The School of Languages, Cultures and World Affairs prepares students to become discerning, knowledgeable, and engaged citizens in an ever changing, interconnected global world.

School of Education and Human Performance:

The mission of the School of Education and Human Performance is the development of educators and health professionals to lead a diverse community of learners toward an understanding of and active participation in a highly complex world.

The Graduate School:

The mission of the Graduate School of the University of Charleston, South Carolina is to promote excellence in graduate education at the College of Charleston by connecting the campus to Lowcountry as well as worldwide communities through certificate, master’s, and select doctoral programs that address critical economic, social, and environmental issues. Our programs provide opportunities for students to engage in innovative and collaborative research with other students and with academic and professional specialists in the region. Our location in a historic, port city offers students unique opportunities. Programs offer specialized knowledge and training sought by professionals living and working in the region. Graduate programs provide a quality driven, student-oriented education in an atmosphere that encourages student, faculty, and staff diversity, inclusiveness, and equity.
