Master of Education in Languages (Spanish)
The School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs and the School of Education of the College of Charleston jointly offer coursework leading to a Master of Education in Languages (Spanish) for language teachers. This is the only M.Ed. in Languages (Spanish) in South Carolina.
The M.Ed. in Languages (Spanish) is designed to be a flexible program for working professionals. Students may take 1-4 courses per semester, though most students take courses part time. The program is open to degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students, including teachers needing courses for recertification. Although it is a master's degree in Education, this program does not lead to initial teacher certification in South Carolina. If you are interested in initial teacher certification, please contact the Program Director.
While the majority of students are teachers or people returning to teaching, certain courses in the program may be attractive to non-degree seeking students who desire to improve skills and knowledge in Spanish. Because most students in the program are working professionals, since Fall 2019, all courses for this Master's degree program are offered exclusively online including summer sessions.
