The Language Resource Center was named in honor of Michael Pincus, former Head of the Division of Classical and Modern Languages and Literatures, who encouraged and promoted the integration of technology in the teaching of foreign languages. The Center provides the following facilities to the students and faculty of foreign languages:






Policies and Procedures



General Information
This catalog contains titles available from the Michael Pincus Language Resource Center at the College of Charleston, updated as needed. These titles will be listed as holdings on the Center's Web page: http://lcwa.cofc.edu/langlab/holdings. A hard copy of the catalog is available at each department's main office.

To check out Video Tapes
Videos for classroom or student use: Faculty may call 953-8172 or come by ECTR 226 to reserve a video tape for class or to put it on reserve for their students in the Media Communication Lab in room ECTR 207. Videos for personal use: Faculty may check out a video for two weeks.

Audio Lab Reservation
The Sony Audio Lab in room ECTR 225 may be used for special activities not easily duplicated in the classroom or for testing. Classroom use of the Lab to listen to audio cassettes that accompany the textbook is not encouraged. Reservations may be made well in advance by calling 953-8172. There is a limit of two hours per day per instructor.

To Check out Audio Cassettes
College of Charleston students of foreign languages may freely check out three tapes at a time. These three tapes may be returned to check out three more tapes until the student has finished the series that accompanies the textbook.

Record Time in Audio Lab
College of Charleston students may be required by their instructor to listen to tapes in the Lab and record their time. It is the student's responsibility to notify the lab assistant to record their time in the Lab.
