JPNS 101 + 102: Elementary Japanese
Introduces the fundamental structures of Japanese with emphasis on acquisiion of the listening
comprehension and oral expression. Introduction to the writing and reading of Japanese characters.
JPNS 201 + 202: Intermediate Japanese
Develops a proficiency in Japanese and familiarity with Japanese culture through practice in the
use of the basic language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and acquisition of
vocabulary.
JPNS 290: Special Topics
JPNS 313 + 314: Japanese Conversation and Composition
Strengthens the development of communication skills in Japanese, while introducing the culture, which
shapes the people of Japan. Attention will be given to various writing style and achievement of them
by regularyly assigned compositions. Familiarizes students with most of Kyoiku Kanji.
JPNS 390: Special Topics
LTJP 150: Japanese Literature in English Translation
Study of selected works from a number of literatures which offer different perspectives on the world
and humankind.
LTJP 250: Japanese Literature in English Translation
Study of selected works, representing major literary periods and genres, which illuminate another
language and culture or era of a shred human condition.
LTJP 350: Japanese Literature in English Translation
Study of selected works by an author whose influence is felt by the world at large.
LTJP 450: Japanese Literature in English Translation
Study of selected works by major authors representing different cultures with emphasis on common
themes as viewed from the perspectives of these writers.
