The College of Charleston offers an interdisciplinary M.Ed. in Language (ESOL) between the School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs, and the School of Education, Health, and Human Performance. The program is completely online and tailored specifically for working professionals, including current teachers, those interested in non-traditional ESOL settings, and those looking for career flexibility and international opportunities.

The M.Ed. is open both to degree-seeking and non-degree seeking students. Although it is a degree in Education, the M.Ed does not lead to initial teacher certification in South Carolina. If interested in certification, however, please inquire with the Program Director.

The M.Ed. in Languages (ESOL) is designed to be completed in 5 semesters, but because most students in the program are working professionals, students may take 1, 2, or 3 courses per semester. All classes are offered online to allow for flexibility. While many students are teachers or people returning to teaching, the courses in the program will be attractive to those interested in non-traditional ESOL settings as well, including careers in Human Resources, and Language Consulting for business, public health, and medical environments.
