Interested in French language and culture? Want to live in a beautiful historic house with others who share your interests? The French House, a learning community that provides a language immersion experience, offers just such an opportunity.
The French House is located on campus at 6 Bull Street. It is governed by the Office of Residence Life and Housing; regular fees for historic houses apply. The house is furnished and has Internet access and cable television (including the French channel TV5). There are four double rooms plus a single room for a Resident Assistant. The house has two bathrooms, a living room on the ground floor, a full kitchen, a front porch, and a large courtyard in back with picnic tables. Laundry facilities are on the ground floor.
All interested female students of French, including native speakers, may apply. Residents must have either completed or be enrolled in French 201 during the time they live in the house.
Residents must agree to use French as the primary language of the house and to host at least one cultural event per semester in collaboration with the French Club.
