About Professor Abuhakema

Ghazi Abuhakema is an assistant professor and Arabic program coordinator at the College of Charleston (CofC). He served in the same capacity at Montclair State University (MSU), NJ for the last two years. He is the founding dean of the Arabic Language Village (Al-WaHa) in MN and served as its dean for the last three years. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and his MA from St. Michaels College in VT. He is an ACTFL certified Oral proficiency Tester. He taught courses in Arabic language and culture at MSU, Middlebury College and UT-Austin. His research focuses on second language acquisition, teaching culture, Heritage learners, and learner corpora.
