Sam Tyson, a student who is currently serving as webmaster for the School, developed this site from the ground up starting in the Spring semester of 2006. The intention was to develop a fully function site that was both comprehensive and easily navigable for such a large and still-developing school at the College.

About this Design
After spending several weeks early in the development process engineering an image that expressed the interconnectedness of the world and languages through the use of a world map and a large tree, the design was shot down but the motif persisted.

Philosophy
The design principles that Sam employs are simple: the site has to be quick to load, interesting to look at, easy to navigate, coherent, and easy to update. As a result, Sam spends much of him design time in building very robust stylesheets that control the look and feel of a web site so that changes to the look of a site can be made immediately.
