What We Can Do

The Design Office can perform a wide variety of Web functions, from complete site design and redesign to updating and maintaining existing Web sites. We have knowledge of the "alphabet soup" of Web programming languages and scripts:

  • Basic coding like: HTML, DHTML and CSS;
  • Scripting languages like: JavaScript, CGI, Perl and some PHP;
  • Database development and management through MySQL.

We are also able to design and edit graphics for use on the Web using Photoshop.

If you would like a Web site design or redesign, we ask that you come in with some ideas, even if they are as rudimentary as color preferences or the inclusion of a particular image. If we have some direction when we start, we will be able to finish your project sooner.

About Section 508 Compliance

This year the College is working to stay in compliance with new federal and state guidelines concerning the accessibility of Web sites to people with disabilities. This means that Web sites that utilise PDFs, Flash, and other Web technologies that are add-ons to typical Web browsers must link to a page of downloads (we have created one for you) and every page must provide a way for mechanical text-readers to skip headers and navigation and go straight to the content of a page.

Recent Web Design Work

So far this year, the Design Team have worked on a number of Web sites. Here is a list of our most recent work:

LCWA Web site

This is the current site design for the new School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs. This Web site is still in production, but is projected to be finished in time for the fall semester.

This is the current template for the Hispanic Studies program. This web site is still in production and is projected to finish in 2-3 weeks.

This is the current design template for Polyphony magazine. It is currently on hiatus awaiting approval of the design and content.
